Can You Wear Midi Dress if Youre 5 2
If I could wear one thing for the rest of my life, it would be a dress. They're simple, classic and always beautiful! Of course, in this dreamland, the weather would have to cooperate as well.
My go-to style of dress is definitely a midi dress. This probably goes without saying, but this style hits you mid-calf and is so flattering! It's also not to short, so you don't have to worry about wind blowing your dress up and exposing you, or bending over and showing your tush 😉
I think they look effortless and chic too—even when they're really casual! I wore this beautiful linen midi dress in Arizona, and sadly, it's an old one from Faithfull the Brand. They make gorgeous pieces!
Now, onto how to wear midi dresses! The possibilities are endless, but here are 5 of my favorite ways to style it.
How To Wear A Midi Dress 5 Ways
I thought it'd be fun to show you guys a few different ways to wear midi dresses and how I would style it with different styles of midi dresses.
Casual with Sneakers
You knew this one was going to be first, haha! I LIVE in sneakers these days and it's no surprise that this is how I'm typically wearing my dresses. I adore my Golden Goose sneakers—worth every damn penny—but, I also love my Adidas sneakers. Converse, Greats or any other white sneaker would look cute as well! I actually wore this blue dress with pink sneakers last year and loved that look too.
Girly with Mules
I wore this on the blog a few weeks ago, and then wore this outfit again for our first night out in Arizona. The pink gingham is so fun and paired with mules is dressy, but perfect for everyday. I'd wear this to a girl's lunch or casual date. This pair of mules is SO comfortable and goes with everything!
Dressy with Strappy Heels
This look was one of my most popular ones EVER, which isn't surprising. This dress is gorgeous and comes in a zillion colors. It's absolutely perfect for a wedding or any dressy event! It's only $89, but looks so expensive, so if you have weddings over the summer, snag this one—I personally LOVE the lavender color! Paired with simple, strappy heels and a basic clutch, you're set!
Everyday with Flat Sandals
The quintessential summer outfit! I can't tell you how many times I wear some form of this outfit through the summer months. We walk a lot when the weather is warm and flat sandals and a comfy dress are ideal!
Summer Date Night with Fun Shoes
Like I mentioned before, I think that midi dresses are classic and chic! Which makes them pretty dang perfect for date night. I've always loved shoes, literally, I had a zillion pairs of shoes growing up, haha! When in doubt, pair a simple dress with a fun pair of shoes for a really cute outfit!
Different Midi Dress Styles
A-Line: The dress I'm wearing in this post is what I'd classify as a-line. It has a gentle A-shape and I think is the most versatile. Depending on the fabric, pattern and cut of the top half of your dress, you could wear this style of midi dress to a bunch of different occasions. I love this linen dress for date nights or girl's nights out. The fabric isn't super fancy, but I love the cut and open back!
T-Shirt Midi Dress: In my mind, these styles of dresses are perfect for the weekend, or when I have a mom day with Owen. They're casual, laid-back and comfortable. You can easily throw on a denim jacket, sneakers and a baseball hat or pair it with flat sandals and a cute sun hat for a walk to the park or lunch on a patio.
Ruffled Drop Hem: Okay, didn't even know this was a thing until I started looking at pictures and noticed that several of my midi dresses have this same look. It's flirty and girly and perfect for date night or girl's night!
Flowy Midi Dress: Depending on the fabric, a flowier midi dress style can be be perfect for dressier occasions or casual. I have a few that are made from a good everyday fabric and are perfect for everyday wear (like this dress from this post), but if it's in a nicer fabric, you could easily wear it to a fancy date night or a wedding when paired with strappy heels!
Fitted Midi Dress: This style just screams chic to me! I think it's perfectly fitting (see what I did there) for a formal event like a fancy wedding or black tie event.
I'm so excited that we're inching closer to warmer weather and that I can really start pulling out my dresses and wearing these on a regular basis! What's your favorite way to wear a midi dress? Which one of these outfits do you see yourself wearing?!
BTW, one of my favorite midi dresses I ever bought, and how to work when you're on vacation.
